Chrissie Powell-Cross Categorical Resource Teacher Born and raised in Northern Colorado. She has a masters in Special Education from the University of Northen Colorado. Chrissie enjoys being a resource teacher and loves all her amazing students. Her and husband and two sons moved to Wake Forest in June of 2016. They love the weather in north Carolina. They also enjoy going to the beach and riding horses.
Melissa Shuman-Cross Categorical Resource Teacher Early Childhood Special Education Graduated from Radford. She taught in Virginia for 12 years (K-2) She loves spending time with family and watching college football, especially Clemson.
Laura Wilson- Cross Categorical Resource Teacher Born and raised in North Carolina. Received a Bachelors Degree in Special Education, general curriculum and adapted curriculum from East Carolina University in 2005. She taught in Greene, Edgecombe, Pitt and now Wake County in a variety of Special Education classroom settings (K-5). She attained her National Boards of Teaching in 2010. She loves spending time with her husband and 6 1/2 year old son They enjoy sports and family games.
Ronda Keldsen- ID MILD K-2 Teacher Grew up in Michigan. She graduated from Spring Arbor University with a BA in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten and first grade in Michigan for 15 years before moving to North Carolina in January 2016. After moving to NC, she obtained my Special Education certification. She worked at North Forest Pines as a CCR teacher last school year and this year she is the ID Mild 1 teacher. She states "I feel very blessed to have this position at such a wonderful school".
She has two grown sons in Michigan and a daughter that is a sophomore at Wake Forest High School. Last January, she became a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family at the lake.
Allison Overacker- ID MILD 3-5 Teacher She has a masters degree in special education and 22 years of experience in the field. She began my career teaching deaf and hard of hearing students. While living in New York, she spent many years working for the New York State Education Department. After moving to Raleigh in 2014, she went back to classroom teaching. It was the best decision she's ever made! She read that research shows when you laugh and hug someone everyday, you have better cardiovascular health. She states "If that’s true, I have a very healthy heart because of teaching".
